In our recent discussions about merging and expanding the nontraditional units of the university we have tended to focus on our immediate issues and questions and have to some extent neglected the larger contextual pressures we face. This Chronicle article speaks to that context in a way that deeply resonates with my thinking and I want to share it in case you have not yet seen it.
