A gnome gone astray
Posted on November 11, 2010
Many of you know Alex Manus, our erstwhile and polyglot Romanian doctoral student working in COCE. Alex has many virtues, but one enormous moral shortcoming. He is, alas, a Yankees fan. He attended his first Yankees game earlier this fall and purchased a Yankees gnome for his desk.
Sadly, at least from his perspective, the gnome has disappeared. It had been popping up in various places and by all appearances, its life of new found freedom is much or exciting than Alex’s life. There is a Facebook page tracking his whereabouts and latest adventures: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Travels-of-Gnomey-G-Rod-Manus/119763874750240 .
We need your help finding what now appears to be an SNHU gnome. There is a rumor that he is on his way to Asia. He has already been to Chicago and Vermont. Please help Alex. He misses his gnome very much.
Gnomey has actually now gained enough followers to obtain a Unique URL. You can now find him at the smaller url of http://www.facebook.com/GnomeyManus
Can you imagine a gnome-sized Penmen costume?
Time to change our mascot to a gnome. Why not?
We can be the Crazy Gnomes from SNHU or the Grisly Gnomes.
Poor Alex. I wonder what happened in his childhood that made him resort to being a Yankees fan. In any case, probably some Yankees fan, maybe even Alex himself, has hidden the gnome in Fenway Park to get even for the construction workers who buried a Red Sox jersey in the new Yankees stadium.
I will keep my eyes peeled for the gnome. Another Yankees fan! Whoo-hoo!
