The new wheels question decided
Posted on September 30, 2012
In an earlier post I wrote about my love for trucky vehicles and admitted to Walter Mitty fantasies when behind the wheel of such things. I debated trading my university Volvo in for a Jeep Wrangler, a vehicle I always admired for its rough and ready quality.
Well, the university car is just fine, only two years old, and as a four door it serves well when others are with me. I couldn’t use university resources to suit my driving prefernces.
So I traded in my own 2004 BMW Z4 for……..
I know, I know — it has mediocre fuel economy, but I promise to dry my laundry outside, use a push lawn mower, and shower less often whenever I drive it. And it’s beautiful, no?
When thought about the Wrangler I asked for opinions on my Twitter account and SNHU students were enthusiastically in support. My story, and I’m sticking to it, is I “did it for the kids.”
Also, every Jeep owner with whom I spoke has loved their Jeeps and are often on their third or fifth or even seventh in one case. I can report that in six miles of driving so far I have been smiling the whole time! I wanted to park it on our front lawn with one wheel up on an exposed rock, but Pat rolled her eyes and forbid it.
So I’m instead praying for a major snowstorm, mudslide, or flood. Then just give me a call and my Jeep and I will happily come rescue you.
It certainly looks like a nice ride. I too have always wanted one…. Someday! I keep telling myself, someday. 🙂 Enjoy!
